FINCH FOUNDRY at Sticklepath may be closing after half term but the volunteers role is a year round one.
The National Trust is looking for volunteers who would like to help look after the collection and machinery. The foundry has a large collection of tools which need to be given some tender loving care.
'Volunteers are at the heart of this site and the work goes on even in winter time, ' said custodian Elisabeth Chard.
'There is always lots to do while the foundry is closed so if you do not mind getting your hands dirty come and join us.'
Travelling expenses are paid and training will be provided for anyone wishing to help as a conservation volunteer.
Finch Foundry, which is one of the last remaining water powered forges in the country, will close for the winter on November 4.
