THE later date of the Royal Cornwall Show proved a boon for first time exhibitor Michael Taylor — he scooped a silver trophy and a large gold award.
Michael, who is the proprietor of Endsleigh Nurseries, decided to exhibit this year for the first time. The show had been postponed from June because of foot and mouth.
'We took advantage of it being in September because this is a bit of a quieter time for us,' he said.
Michael said Endsleigh Nurseries won the 'large gold' for their 'Island' exhibit in the flower tent — which featured a large Japanese Maple with shrubs and grasses.
'We also won the Arthur Abbiss Memorial Trophy for garden design,' he said.
This is the first time that Michael has exhibited at any major show and he is delighted with the result. After such a success at the Royal Cornwall there is a strong possibility he will be back next year — even if it is in June.
