She knew of the Tavistock Food Bank and of its good work in providing packs of basic foodstuff to those who had recently lost their jobs, and found out that the warehouse was short of a number of items, including instant coffee, sugar, canned potatoes and sponge puddings.
On January 10, Sally's son Rupert did the dash for her but she made sure he was headed in the right direction to lift trays of the things that were needed.
Sally said that the staff at Morrisons were most welcoming and very good humoured and members of the Rotary Club were very helpful in clearing a gangway so that the trolley could get around safely.
Even after this donation Sally said that there were sufficient treats for her children and grandchildren to enjoy well into the New Year.
Val O'Neill expressed thanks to Sally on behalf of the foodbank.
The bank is open in the URC in Russell Street on Fridays, 10am to 2pm.
