MORE than 200 people set off on a wet and windy Sunday morning bound for Lundy Island on a joint trip organised by Hatherleigh and Holsworthy Rotary Clubs. The south-east wind meant the captain did not know whether the passengers would be able to get on the jetty at Lundy due to the direction of the wind. However, the sun shone on the trip across and although the sea was a little rough at Lundy, after a short wait the party were able to land. Members set off on various pursuits around the island, including hiking and picnicing. The group set off for home at 4.30pm via a trip around the island, when unfortunately the heavens opened. Later the raffle which raised £236 was drawn. The whole day was a great success and between the two clubs, more than £2,000 in total was raised for charity. The Rotary Clubs of Hatherleigh and Holsworthy would like to thank all those who supported the event.
