TAVISTOCK Cricket Club recently had its annual meeting, where the secretary reported a successful season.

On the playing side the 1st XI gained promotion to division 1 of the Devon League. Off the field the club reported a healthy profit.

The club expressed thanks to its regular sponsors over the many seasons they have supported the club, as well as main sponsor Atlas International who continue for a fourth year.

The vice-presidents? donations have contributed to the many improvements continually carried out at the club.

On the playing side, two new recruits from champions Bovey Tracey, Alan Searle and Colin Mortimore, contributed a big part in the 1st XI success, while South African fast bowler Orin Roesstorff made a big impact with his 35 league wickets.

The club also held a successful dinner with more than 75 people attending and welcomed John Burnett MP and his wife, Billie, as guests.

The dinner also saw a presentation to retiring club president Eric Jarman who completed his three years in office.

Eric first joined the club in the early 50s. His contribution as president has seen him help with the bar, teas, ground, cleaning, umpiring and scoring of Colts games, and many other jobs that needed doing ? he will be a difficult act to follow.

This coming season the club is looking to provide covers and a second coaching net.
