FORMER West Devon Borough Councillor Mrs Pat Campbell has died following a long illness.
Mrs Campbell, a Conservative, had represented the Buckland Monachorum ward since June 2001. She resigned a week ago due to ill health.
Cllr Richard Eberlie, leader of the borough council Conservative group, said: ?She was a quiet lady, very wise and very capable with masses of experience.
?She was determined to overcome her illness and felt she could do so by making a contribution on behalf of the people of her ward to the council.
?We shall miss her deeply.?
Mayor of West Devon Cllr Richard Phillips added: ?Mrs Campbell threw herself wholeheartedly into the council and her death is a great loss to us all.?
A memorial service will be held at Sampford Spiney Church on Thursday March 20 at 3pm.
