TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman, 14, competed in the sprint triathlon held at Roadford Lake, where there was only one other competitor aged under 18 in this event. 

Pete competed with 80 other entrants in the sprint triathlon.   The event started with a 750m open water swim in Roadford Lake, where the water was choppy and the wind blowing into the swimmers. 

Pete had a good swim and left the lake in 14th position.  He then had to run up the hill to the transition area and take off his wetsuit and get onto his bike for the challenging 20k bike stage of the event.  Pete finished the bike stage in 37th position.  Finally Pete had to run 5k on an off-road route around the perimeter the lake.  His superb run saw him finish in 26th position which was a great result for the young triathlete.
