DESPITE the heavy fog and rain, more than 150 walkers set out on a 13-mile trek over Dartmoor recently, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The route, which began with an ascent onto Hamel Down, took on average four hours to complete, and with numerous climbs and descents along the way the walkers welcomed the complimentary tea at the Wayside Café in Widecombe-in-the-moor.
Events organiser Matt Carruthers said: 'I couldn't be more proud of those who took on this challenge and whose fundraising will help increase the free care our nurses provide to families throughout Devon suffering with terminal cancer and other illnesses. Well done to every walker.'
The event will take place again next year, on Sunday October 14. To take part call 08700 340040 or register online at http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/uktreks">www.mariecurie.org.uk/uktreks
