CHEQUES for £2,125 were last week presented to three charities, following the successful trees of light fundraiser organised by the Lions Club of Tavistock.

Club President Richard Hamer presented the cheques to each of the representatives from Children's Hospice South West, St Luke's Hospice and the Mustard Tree Macmillan Centre based at Derriford Hospital.

Once HM Revenue and Customs processes the club's claim for gift aid on donations made by UK tax payers, it is hoped that around another £300 can be given to each of the charities.

The club would like to thank everybody who made a donation in memory of a departed loved one and those local organisations and people who made the whole project possible especially Simon Luke of Morris Bros (Tavistock) Ltd, whose company covered all of the administration costs which ensured that all of the money donated was given to the chosen charities, the staff of the Tavistock Town Council for erecting the trees donated by the Moule family and the Times for publishing the sponsorship form and the list of donors.
