A NEW transport guide has been published by the West Devon Transport Access Group.
The booklet, produced with financial support from Devon County Council and West Devon Borough Council, features a wide range of transport related information.
It includes details of public transport and community transport services in the area, cycling and walking opportunities, school and college transport and initiatives such as the Carsharedevon.com website, Fare Car and Devon Wheels2Work.
Anne Kingdon, West Devon Transport Access Development Worker, said: 'This booklet is for everyone's use.
'All ages and mobilities will find information to help with their regular or occasional transport needs. The information has been sourced from many different organisations and users will find it very convenient to have all this within one publication.
'There are also plans within our Rural Transport Access project to make this information available electronically. This will make it possible to keep it up to date.'
Cllr Christine Marsh, Devon county councillor for Okehampton Rural, said: 'There is a lot of information in this booklet. Many people are unaware of the transport options that are available and this has been an excellent opportunity to coordinate it into a single reference.
'I hope more people will now use the services that are available within West Devon.'
Cllr Roy Connelly, Devon county member for Tavistock, said: 'This booklet is an excellent guide in providing information which is so important to the community in accessing all the transport options that are available.'
Cllr Alan Hosking, county member for Yelverton Rural, said: 'As we endeavour to pursue our policy to make Devon even greener, I'm pleased to support this publication which will help people find their way around West Devon either on foot, bicycle, public transport or carsharing.'
Cllr Chris Jenkins, chairman of West Devon Borough Council's environment and community committee, said: 'West Devon has some of the most amazing and diverse travel routes and this year even more cycling, walking and nature trails will be opening.
'Linking these to the public transport system means residents and visitors can enjoy this lovely area and help the environment as well as themselves.'
The booklet is being delivered to households in the Tavistock, Yelverton and Bere Alston areas, as well as local villages and rural households across the southern parishes of West Devon.
It will also be available at libraries and tourist information centres in Tavistock and Okehampton.
Residents will also be able to pick up a copy at West Devon Connect outreach surgeries this year.
Venues for the surgeries will include Lifton, Bere Alston and Chagford.
Alternatively call 05601 271840 to arrange to receive your household's copy.
