TRANSITION Tavistock's Energy Group hosted a sustainable energy information stall flanked by a small prototype wind turbine, at a recent Tavistock Farmers' Market.
The group made use of the windy Bedford Square with a stall that attracted a lot of attention, and recruited another 37 households to add to their contact list.
Many of the discussions at the stall were with people eager for information about sustainable energy systems for home and business use.
Members of the Food Group were also in attendance, hosting a seed swap for gardeners, and families were recruited to the new Eco Teams scheme, which enables households to measure the energy they use and find ways to cut down.
Transition Tavistock is a growing community response to the challenges of dwindling oil supplies and climate change.
It is one of many Transition groups around the world, which aim to make local communities stronger and more resilient, while at the same time enabling people to get to know each other and have fun.
