ONE of the biggest changes in Okehampton Rugby Club's 125-year history takes effect on May 1, as Okehampton RFC will become a company limited by guarantee.
On April 4 the club held an extraordinary meeting to complete the process by authorising the transfer of all assets and liabilities to the new company, entitled Okehampton Rugby Football Club Ltd.
The Rugby Football Union strongly advised the move, deeming it necessary to protect clubs from the increase in litigation and dramatic increase in liability.
The club has had a successful year on the pitch, with both the First and Second XVs riding high in their respective leagues. The club has consolidated its position in the Western Counties League, and feel that this move, along with the solid player base bodes well for the the future of Okehampton RFC Ltd.
Information about upcoming events, such as the royal wedding celebrations and the Devon President's match, can be found on the club website at http://www.okerugby.com">www.okerugby.com
