THERE was an excellent turnout for Callington Town?s 14th anniversary dinner and presentation held at the Eagle House Hotel, Launceston, on Friday.
Winner of the players? player award for the Carlsberg South Western League was Adam Bartlett with Chris Tilbury receiving the runner?s-up award.
Manager?s player went to club captain Matt Hawke while Matt Shorter won the leading goalscorer award. Supporters? player of the year was won by Chris Tilbury with Matt Shorter finishing a close second.
For the Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League outfit, it was a clean sweep for long serving striker Chris Truscott who walked away with the players? player, manager?s player and leading goalscorer trophies, a well deserved accolade for him as he has been with the club for ten years.
The young Duchy League side voted Chris Canham as players? player with Dean Martin winning the manager?s player vote and Pete Floyd topping the scoring charts.
Clubman of the year was Tony Hicks in recognition of all his hard work on the pitchside during the season.
l Callington Town held their annual meeting on Sunday. Chairman Andrew Long was returned as chairman with Keith Houghton taking the role of vice-chairman and publicity officer. Steve Bartlett took the helm of treasurer while Phil Brown, having served ten years as secretary, was elected to continue the great work he has done for the club.
Brian Baker was returned as club manager with Paul Fletcher as lottery treasurer. Ray Bristow was elected to the new post of catering manager while Michele Southcott took the dual roles of membership secretary and fundraising officer. The task of pitchside management will continue to be under the guidance of Bill Rogers.
Ian Southcott will continue as manager of the Carlsberg South Western League side with Geoff Battams as his assistant. Dave Rider was re-appointed as third team manager.
Pre-season training starts on Tuesday July 1 at 7.30pm at Ginsters Marshfield Parc. Any player who would like to join the club is welcome to come along to training which will be held each and every Tuesday thereafter.
