MARATHON man Adam ran his first race of the new year at the First Chance 10k in Exeter on Sunday.

The Tavistock Athletic Club runner was 10th in a time of 33 minutes and 20 seconds.

The course was flat and fast, run on tarmac cycleways and gravel footpaths along the Exeter Canal and the River Exe. There are two water stations.

Tavistock had a good turn out for the event which had seen nearly 500 people taking part.

Other TAC runners enjoyed success with Jo Meek taking 18th place and the second lady home in 36.19. Other results Caroline Steven, 58th and first veteran 40 in 39.59sec; Peter Bazley, 94th and 3rd vet in 55 42.24sec; Jon Meek, 101st in 42.44sec; Mike Erith was 162nd in 46.34sec; Alice Rogers, 174th and 3rd in the U20s in 47.12sec; Paul Marshall, 183rd, in 47.37sec; Kate Rogers, 201st and fourth in vets 50, in 48.24sec; Rebecca Windemer, 213th and fourth in the U20s in 48.58sec; John Windermer was 305th in 53.48sec.
