THE town centre improvement proposals for Callington will be shown in three more villages as part of a two-month long consultation.
Plans for a possible one-way system and other town centre changes will be open for residents to view and comment on in South Hill, St Mellion and St Dominick in the coming ten days as the town's Cornwall Councillor Andrew Long brings the proposals to villages surrounding the town as part of his two-month consultation exercise.
Cllr Long said: 'Following an incredibly successful July consultation exercise in Callington, when more than 600 people took part in the process, I decided that the people from the surrounding villages, many of whom rely on the services that Callington has to offer, should be given their chance to take part in the consultation exercise.
'To that end, I have already had an event in Stoke Climsland and will be present at South Hill Flower Show on Saturday, August 20.?
'The following Wednesday I will be at St Dominick Village Hall in the morning and, with thanks to Crown Golf, I will be at St Mellion Golf and Country Club in the afternoon to give people in these three parishes an opportunity to view and comment on these proposals.
'Once I have finished the consultation exercise, I will be preparing a report which will go to the town council, the Cornwall Highways Office and also to the traders who made their views on the proposals clear during the last six weeks.
'I hope that this will help the town council and Cornwall Council to then come to a decision on this important issue.'
The response form Cllr Long has created gives residents a chance to vote for either one of the three options, none of the above and a fifth choice of providing an alternative.
