ELECTORS in East Cornwall will go to the polls next month to vote for new district and parish councils — and for the first time in 12 years there will be an election for Callington Town Council. Fourteen candidates will stand for 12 seats on Callington Town Council and there will be an election for the four seats on the Harrowbarrow ward of Calstock Parish Council with five standing. The other parish wards of Calstock, Chilsworthy, Delaware and Gunnislake did not attract enough candidates for an election. There will be no elections for Stoke Climsland or St Dominick Parish Councils. Nine candidates will stand for three Callington seats on Caradon District Council and six candidates will stand for three Calstock seats on the district council. Neil Burden will return unopposed as the ward member for Stoke Climsland on North Cornwall District Council. Landrake and St Dominick (2 seats): Roger Creagh-Osbourne (Green), Olive Egglestone (Conservative), Katharine Garner (Liberal Democrat), Sarah Maher (Conservative), Barbara McTaggart (Liberal Democrat) Stoke Climsland (1 seat): Neil Burden (returned unopposed).
