Plymouth Kolts U15s 3 Tavistock Town U15s 1 BELIEF is an often ignored part of the game but if Tavistock had more they would undoubtably have beaten the opposition on Saturday.  By far the better team on the day, Tavistock  let themselves down with errant finishing and lacks of concentration in defence.  Tavistock worked extremely well to put pressure on Kolts in the first half but could not stop the home team scoring two goals from break aways in their only two attacks - had Town put away their chances they would have been 4-2 in front. The second half did little to change the course of the game with countless misses from Tavistock combining with unsettled defending leaving the away side 3-0 down.  However, this did not deter Tavistock and some great work from Case, Pridham, Davies and Ayres allowed the visitors to create some fantastic chances - but they could not finish them off.  In a game when Tavistock could have cemented their premier league status, they were unable to finish what they started.  The consolation goal came from, Town's player of the match, Ayres — with a well taken penalty! DJM Royal Oak Tavistock Thistles U15s 4 Railway Beacon U15's 5 FROM sublime to ridiculous in 80 minutes, Thistles managed to produce their best and worst performances of the season, in a game of two halves. Playing against the leagues high-flyers, no- one really gave Tavistock a chance but, playing down the slope, with a strong wind behind them, Thistles sparkled. Cadan Lowther, Sam Newton and Jonny Hake were dominant in midfield for Thistles, whilst Rob Wearing struck panic into the Beacon defence every time he touched the ball. Wearing was quickly rewarded for his efforts, when after a strong run he slid the ball home from a tight angle. Home strikers, Tom Parry and Scottie Reroma showed great movement off the ball, and Lowther quickly took advantage by slipping the ball into the path of Parry who calmly passed it into the net for his ninth goal in nine games.  Defenders, Ben O'Neill, Ed Argles, Robin Jones and Jay Lambert held a strong line and prevented the Beacon strikers from creating any chances. Jones had the opportunity to get up for a corner and his strike produced a fine save from the Beacon keeper, but Reroma reacted quickly to head home the rebound. Brimming with confidence, Thistles passed and moved with an air of authority. Another Wearing shot could only be parried into the path of the advancing Louis Wilson who swept the ball home to put Tavistock 4-0 up at half time. Minutes into the second half Thistles were awarded a penalty, but the resultant spot kick was missed and suddenly the game was turned on its head. Thistles' confidence vanished as Beacon began to pile on the pressure. Beacon pulled back three quick goals from set pieces as Thistles forgot how to defend.  Tavistock then lost the services of keeper, Jack Haigh, who was injured when bravely diving at the feet of a Beacon player. He was replaced in goal by Hake, who, moments later, was unlucky to have to face a penalty, which the visitors tucked away.  Beacon bombarded the Thistles' penalty area with long throws and long punts forward, and it looked as though Tavistock would hang on for a point, but cruelly, for the fourth time this season, Thistles were beaten with the last kick of the game. DJM Tavistock Thistles U13s 5 Woolwell Juniors 4 Thistles produced a stirring performance in the wind and rain to recover from a 3-1 deficit and record a memorable victory. Woolwell broke through the Thistles' defence to take the lead but Will Lane ran onto a through ball with great pace, steadied himself before blasting the ball beyond the Woolwell keeper into the roof of the net to equalise for Thistles. Woolwell quickly regained the lead and then increased it to 3-1 as Thistles scored an own goal. Hancock decided to move up from midfield, rounded a couple of Woolwell players before giving the Woolwell keeper had no chance to make it 3-2. Corey Hancock then equalised for Thistles with irresistible insolence. In the second half, Thistles were dominant, but Woolwell broke away and took a 4-3 lead. Could Thistles come back yet again? The answer was yes when player of the match Corey broke down the right and clever work by Adam Cowan-King produced another opening for Jonny, who put the ball into the back of the net. Thistles had won at the death.
