FIREFIGHTERS from Callington were among 30 crew members who tackled a large barn fire on a farm in St Dominick last Friday evening.

One pumping appliance from Callington, two from Saltash, the water carrier from Bodmin and the operational support vehicle from St Austell were in attendance. There was also a water carrier and a pumping appliance from Devon.

Crews, who received a call at 8.47pm, used four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were still on the scene, damping down, at 6am the next day.

The barn was destroyed in the blaze. The cause was not believed to be suspicious.
