CALLINGTON is to complain about what the town council sees as a shortage of police in its area.
This follows a similar complaint lodged two weeks ago by neighbouring Calstock Parish Council to Chief Inspector John Tucker.
Cllr Andy Long said at Callington Town Council's meeting last week: 'there is a glut of police in the daytime, but nothing at weekends and very little in the evenings.'
He called for the town clerk Michael Williams to write again to police headquarters pointing out that there was now an increase in funding for the rural areas of Devon and Cornwall and asking if some of this would go to Callington.
The council intends to meet with senior police on November 14.
