It was a closely fought battle, Steve Yoe going down to an experienced team match player 1-3. Andy Glossop never really got going and lost 0-3. Arnie Searle had the closest match losing to an up and coming young player 2-3, but both Donald Rooke and Martin Leyton, the new coach, won comfortably 3-0.
The first team were beaten by 14 points to nine.
The second team were away to Crediton and without their number one player. Ian Pitts had to play at one and lost 0-3. Rob Barkwell and Ben Jones lost 0-3.
Sue Stanbury, coming to play at five, managed to scrape a game to lose 1-3. Steve Adkins was the only winner, coming through a hard match to take the rubber 3-2.
The second team went down 19 points to four.
