Despite the poor weather forecast riders were not daunted as a large field took to the start line in blustery conditions.
Recent rain made parts of the course muddy, which meant these stretches were tough going for the field.
Steve was within sight of the lead for the first couple of laps but a lack of serious training over the last three weeks took its toll as the race progressed and he was unable to improve on his top ten of the previous round at Bodmin. He eventually finished just outside the top ten.
Steve will miss the next round of the series in a fortnight but will be training hard for the fourth round in the middle of November.
