RESIDENTS of Torridge should be receiving their new brown bags shortly, specially issued for the recycling of cardboard.

From April 1, every household in Torridge will be able to recycle their cardboard by placing it in the brown bag ready for collection with the other dry recycling goods like bottles, tins and newspapers. Garden and food waste will continue to be collected in the green wheelie bins.

It will also be possible to leave small electrical items out for recycling. These need to be placed in an ordinary bag next to the green box and brown bag. Items that can be recycled include toasters, kettles, irons, video and DVD players, radios, remote controls and small electronic toys.
