THIS was a frustrating defeat for Tavistock Ladies, who held their own for the initial play but were taking aback by two quick goals.

Tavistock's luck looked like it might turn around after an excellent low ball goal from defender Nicky Crocker, who has proved a skilful player for the team.

But Torquay broke away to score their third before Tavistock striker Sarah Blowey took advantage of the home defence to score a second for the visitors.

Torquay scored a fourth to make it 4-2 to the home side at half-time.

Tavistock traditionally play stronger after the break and they were helped with solid defending from Jo Webber. There were also some great skills by Clarice Payne, Donna Hone, Beth Weymouth and Gemma Cramp, who worked in harmony along the wing.

Midfielders Ali Hurley and Donna Weeks battled hard to feed the ball through but Tavistock did not get the chances their efforts deserved.

Despite a tight defence and excellent goalkeeping from Zoe Stock, Torquay finished off the game with a fifth goal.
