CONSERVATIVES in West Devon and Torridge at their annual meeting at Okehampton Community College welcomed MP Geoffrey Cox. Mr Cox thanked all his supporters for the hard work put into the election campaign of 2005. He remarked that the last time West Devon and Torridge Conservatives had been addressed by the local Conservative MP was in 1995. At a constituency luncheon held after the meeting, at Okehampton Conservative Club, guest speaker was Ian Liddell Grainger MP, who had been the parliamentary candidate for West Devon and Torridge from 1996 to 2000. Mr Liddell-Grainger congratulated the constituency?s Conservatives on their victory and said Mr Cox was a valuable addition to the Conservative benches in the House of Commons. Mr Cox thanked Mr Liddell-Grainger for great service he had rendered to the West Devon and Torridge Conservatives during his period as candidate. His energy and enthusiasm had been inspiring to members who wished him well and had been pleased to see him elected for the constituency of Bridgwater. At the annual meeting, Ken Riddick was re-elected chairman and Mrs Peggy Maughan was elected as ?Shadow Chairman? for the transition to new parliamentary boundaries due to take effect on January 1 2007.
