Devon 1
Topsham 8
Tavistock 38
TAVISTOCK travelled to Topsham who before the start of the game were just above them.
Playing into the wind in the first half Tavistock soaked up some early pressure and were rewarded with the first of scrum half Sean Buttle's two tries.
Captain Matt Cole collected the ball from a lineout and fed it to Buttle, who raced in from halfway.
It was the same combination for the second try of the game as Cole came up with the ball in open play and laid it off to Buttle, who again raced in.
Fly-half Adam Bridgewater converted both, leaving the visitors 1-0 up at half-time.
The second half started with a bang after some great work in the backs put through Paul Allen, and his astute chip ahead was touched down in the corner by Mike Lyddon.
Bridgewater converted from the touchline.
The home side then scored a try through their winger.
Tavistock's next try came from a scrum in the Topsham 22. Hooker Rob Sleep won the ball against the head and Buttle put away winger Phil Allen who beat his opposite number and the full back. The try was again converted.
Topsham then lost their discipline and were pushed by Bridgewater who landed the penalty.
Not to be outdone the Tavistock forwards scored a team try, setting up a series of rucks drawing the defence in, leaving Lee Easton to score from close range.
Bridgewater capped a fine display with the boot landing his fifth successive conversion.
This win moves Tavistock up to fourth place in the league. This week away to Cullompton.
