TAVISTOCK Riding for the Disabled is now able to attend special training sessions, thanks to the generosity of a local organisation.

The group’s disabled carriage driving team recently raised the funds to purchase a new carriage for wheelchair drivers. However, without a suitable trailer to transport the new carriage it was not possible to participate in the South West Area training sessions and competitions.

But now, these events are in reach, after the Rotary Club of Yelverton agreed to cover the cost of £1,750 to purchase the trailer with funds raised by the club at a race night held at the Yelverton Memorial Hall earlier this year, plus additional monies from the club’s Christmas collections.

The official handover of the new carriage trailer was made by Yelverton Rotary Club president Gillian Parker to Pru Mills, Tavistock RDA chairman, with members of the RDA group and the Rotary Club in attendance (see picture above)
