Devon & Exeter Senior 1

North Tawton 3

Exeter University 1

THIS was going to be a hard fixture for the Tawton side to overcome, but they did it in style with a fantastic all-round performance seeing them go two points clear at the top.

Great interlinking play between Ian King and Robert Board saw danger man Keith Steward net the first of the day.

University almost equalised with Robert Board clearing the ball of the Tawton goal-line after a scramble from a corner.

Early in the second half against the run of play, University scored to make it 1-1. North Tawton replied with birthday boy Ian King slotting the ball home after Keith Steward had gone down the right wing and cut it back.

The third North Tawton goal came from a corner with Edward Hillier climbing well to see his header guided home from goal-poacher Ashley Arscot.

Manager Pat Ward and his assistant Jamie Prouse said their side have been improving game after game since their fantastic win away at Buckland.

Man of the match: Edward Hillier.

This Saturday away to Exeter Civil Service first team in the cup.

NORTH Tawton kept their winning streak rolling with five wins out of five.

A good all round performance in the first half saw Tawton playing like leaders with good movement and shot play.

It was only time before they scored. After 15 minutes Kevin Millies passed a perfect ball to Sweet, who passed it to Fisher who belted a 16-yard shot into the left side of the goal.

North Tawton kept applying pressure and on the 25th minutes Dave Ellis struck a blinding 30-yard shot, bending into the top left corner of the goal and leaving the keeper a spectator.

The second half started slowly with Bampton having good chances, but good defending kept them out.

In the 85th minute Millies played a perfect ball between two defenders, putting Tony Fisher one on one with the keeper. He kept a cool head and whipped the ball around the keeper to seal North Tawton?s victory.

Man of the match: Tony Fisher.
