A DOMICILIARY care company has received a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following a recent inspection.
Inspections of Devon and Cornwall Care Services (DACCS) took place in March over two days, under a new CQC format.
Inspectors labelled the overall service as 'good' with 'outstanding' for its responsiveness towards clients and staff.
DACCS provides personal care to people in their own homes throughout Tavistock, Okehampton, Launceston and Plymouth.
A summary of findings by inspectors found that people received care and were supported by care workers who 'respected them and were kind and caring': 'The agency had been innovative in protecting people living with dementia by providing information in a way which promoted their dignity.'
Inspectors found that the service was 'good' in areas relating to safety, effectiveness, caring and was well-led. It was deemed 'outstanding' with regards to being responsive.
During the inspection, the inspectors spoke with 17 people who used the service, three people's families, seven staff and the registered manager, Pauline Hilton.
One inspector said: 'Without exception people said the care workers always treated them with respect, dignity and were caring and kind. One person said "they are my guardian angels".'
People gave examples of the service's responsiveness to their needs: 'The carers are marvellous people. Nothing is too much trouble for them'; 'I have no complaints. I am more than pleased and would recommend (the agency) to anyone'.
Pauline Hilton, director/registered manager of DACCS, said: 'DACCS has been running since 2003 providing 12 years of care and this is the top report we have had.
'This report is good news for the staff and clients that we have.'
