A TAVISTOCK school has just been awarded the prestigious Quality Mark for Mathematics and English.

The award was presented to Chelfham Senior School in recognition of the excellent work done there to support students' basic skills.

Di Hatherley, a former head teacher who assessed the school, said she was satisfied that Chelfham met the required standards.

Headteacher Brett Storrey said: 'As a school we are all delighted that our hard work supporting basic skills has been recognised by the Basic Skills Agency in this way.'
