MANY golfers may find themselves praying when they come to face a tricky five-iron shot, but at Okehampton Golf Club last week there was a chance to hear one of the world?s top ladies professionals talking about her golf and her faith. Alison Nicholas, was at the club to take part in the second Christians in Sport Okehampton Golf Day last Thursday. Alison is now retired, but since turning professional in 1984, she won the Weetabix Women?s British Open at St Mellion, landed four LPGA Tour victories and played in six Solheim Cups, recently serving as vice-captain of the European team. More than 75 people took part in the day?s golf, which was followed by an evening meal and talk by Alison on her experiences travelling the world playing golf and how her faith had helped her. The winning team comprised Alan Kirby, Peter Morgan, Paul Rattenbury and Jim Parker with a score of 88 points. The event was organised by the Rev Stuart Wilson, who said the course was in great condition and the day had been enjoyed by all. Picture by Ian Snell
