TWO businesses in the Okehampton area are supporting an event in aid of Hospiscare by donating the food for a diner to be prepared by celebrity chef Michael Caines.
Hospiscare?s charity dinner and auction will be held on Tuesday, July 20, in the restaurant at the Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter.
Michael Caines? challenge for the evening will be to create an original five-course set menu, using those ingredients donated by companies from throughout the area.
Waitrose of Okehampton has donated cheese and biscuits and Browne?s Chocolates of Throwleigh has donated after-dinner truffles.
The evening will also include a champagne reception and after-dinner auction. Guest speaker Carlton Television presenter Sally Sedgeman will be on hand to entertain.
Hospiscare?s fundraiser Joanne Wearne said: ?This will be a wonderful evening and a great opportunity to sample some delicious food cooked by one of the best chefs in the country.
?And the money raised will help Hospiscare provide its vital care and support to people with life-threatening illness in our area.?
Hospiscare serves an area from Okehampton across mid and east Devon and supports people with life-threatening illness and their relatives and carers, often in their own homes.
Three-quarters of the annual costs of providing Hospiscare?s services comes from community fund-raising.
The charity is still looking for companies who would be willing to donate wine for the event.
Tickets are now on sale for the event and cost £50 per person. To find out more contact Joanne Wearne, on telephone number 01392 688062.
