THE warm sunny weather brought out ten competitors looking for fast times in the Okehampton Cycle Club summer time trial event last Thursday evening.
However, the conditions brought complaints that without the cooling effect of the customary headwind on the Mole Avon to Whiddon Down and back course, it was too hot to post a fast time.
Andy Retter was the least affected by the hot conditions and achieved the best time of the night clocking 29:02.
Guest rider Andy Crawford came second with a time of 31:13 and Blue Ramsey was third with a new personal best time of 31:17. There was also a new personal best time for Jacky Rice achieving 32:08 and Sean Quigley with 31:38.
Full results: A Retter, 29:02; A Crawford, 31:13; B Ramsey, 31:17; S Quigley, 31:38; B Dixon, 31:35; J Rice, 32:08; M Rice, 32:19; N Williams, 33:23; J Short, 34:04; D Baskerville, 35:18.
With only one event left in the series, the points race to claim the club?s summer time trial trophy is hotting up. Mike Rice heads the list with a tally of 99 points, followed by Jacky Rice on 92 and Dave Baskerville on 76.
