Paignton Colts 13
Tavistock Colts 21
PAIGNTON put on a lot of early pressure but could not penetrate past Tavistock?s 22 metre line.
A kick out of defence was chased by centre Tom Vanstone who collected, beat three defenders and outpaced the full back for a glorious individual try under the posts. Shortly after, centre James Kaminski showed again how dangerous he is close to the line and added a further try. As Tavistock grew in confidence, Haig Gorman again used his speed to the loose ball and crashed through for another try. Kaminski converted two and Smerdon the third.
Paignton could only manage a penalty for entering the ruck from the side for a half time score of 21-3 to Tavistock.
Paignton looked a much more determined outfit in the second half but could only achieve two unconverted tries.
Boreham and Williams added steel to the pack and produced some good lineout ball.
The home side were much more of a threat during the second half which Tavistock counteracted with excellent defence.
Tom Friend gained the highest tackle count and produced plenty of ball with his excellent rucking skills to win the man-of-the-match award.
