However, a mix-up saw Honiton slide the ball under the keeper to take a surprise 1-0 lead. Fired up after this set-back, Argyle made several forging runs forward, narrowly going close on three occasions before a powerful shot by Toby Gostling was parried well by Honiton's keeper before finding the back of the net for a 1-1 half-time score. The solid second half performance should have led to more goals but chances were squandered and extra time loomed large when, with three minutes to go, good teamwork allowed Toby to unleash a drive that Honiton's keeper couldn't keep out, making it 2-1 to Argyle for a place in the final.
