THANK you to everybody who helped make the Fairtrade Fair such a great success, especially Clare and Steve who organised the decorations outside and manned the Oxfam stall all day ? and were still there at the gig! Thank you so much ? and also thanks again for the lovely flowers Clare organised. Also, thanks to Maurice and Steve for giving out leaflets all morning and Hilary Johnson for bringing leaflets etc. Thanks also to all the stallholders for their wonderful displays and the great food ? and to everybody who helped with the advertising of the event, especially Kit who emailed the churches in time for their respective newsletters. And thanks to the Times for great coverage ? we think we had about 300-plus visitors ? we didn?t count them, so let me know if you think differently! The gig wasn?t a great success - only about 40 people came but we decided we were a very select group ? and we all enjoyed lovely music with Mike Huber and Hannah and the Madding Crowd (all two of them!). Thanks to Jeff Sleeman for getting the musicians, although he couldn?t be there, and a special thanks to Dan from Grimstone for bringing and setting up the amplifiers ? it was greatly appreciated. Next year, we?ll know to do the fair on one day and a music event on another day and try not to clash with a big event on at the Wharf. And thanks for the donations from the stallholders at the fair - these are very much appreciated as the gig let us down financially ? we were hoping for 100 people paying £4 ? but it wasn?t to be, so the donations will be very useful. The next meeting date has been changed from Thursday March 16 to Wednesday March 29, 7.30pm at Kingdon House ? North Street entrance. Five people left their names at the fair saying they were interested in getting involved ? so we may see some new faces on 29th. See you all again very soon.
