REPRESENTATIVES of West Devon Borough Council were treated to a tour of the extensive facilities of Tavistock?s Body Zone Health Club.

Owners Chris and Jan Dykes invited Cllr Dick Eberlie and the council?s deputy chief executive, David Inman, to look around the club after they felt it was overlooked during recent discussions over a proposed new gymnasium for the town.

Over the last seven years, Jan and Chris have built Body Zone into the largest independent health club in the South West, with a membership of almost 700.

Jan said all the profits from the business go back into improving the facilities, by employing local tradesmen to carry out any work.

Their recent £30,000 refurbishment was carried out by local firms.

Jan said Cllr Eberlie seemed particularly impressed with the club, which has many disabled members, and clients who have been referred by their GPs.
