BUDDING photographers still have time to get snap-happy and enter a picture in the Tamar Valley Tourism Association?s latest competition.

The association, known as TAVATA, launched the competition on the theme ?Life in the Valley? and has extended the closing date for entries to the end of July.

And with plenty of exciting events coming up in the next few weeks the organisation is expecting some top class photographs.

Brian Howlett, organiser of the competition, said: ?The Tamar Valley is looking really fantastic at the moment, and with this fabulous settled weather, we think people will feel inspired to take out their cameras and snap a shot of valley life.?

TAVATA has already received numerous entries with a range of subjects, but Brian is hoping upcoming events will inspire a new raft of happy snappers.

He said: ?We already have a lot of interesting entries, but with events like Calstock Festival and Albaston Fête coming up ? and people enjoying days out around the valley ? there will be ample opportunity to send in more entries.

?Sheep shearing, silage making and other agricultural activities would also be good subjects ? we are looking forward to pictures that really show the huge range of life in the valley.?

There are three age groups for the competition: 5-11 years, 12-18 years and over-18; and images can be taken on conventional or digital cameras.

Entrants may only submit four pictures, and photographs should be no larger than 10x8 inches with digital images in JPEG or TIF format.

Winning and commended entries will be selected for inclusion in next year?s TAVATA calendar, and members of the association are offering prizes for winners, including meals at local pubs and days out at local attractions.

Entry forms are available by contacting Brian on 01579 370292.
