JANE Honey is right to say that the ban on hunting with dogs in England was passed by a majority vote in the Commons. However, she failed to point out that that vote was helped by the votes of the Welsh and the Scots MPs who have their own legislatures in which the English have no say. Even the Scots in recent polls have stated that Scots MPs should not vote on matters which do not concern Scotland. So was this a democratic vote?
The Labour and the Lib Dems think the Welsh and the Scots should vote on English matters. The Tories think that they should be allowed to debate English matters in the Commons, but not vote on it. Why should anyone with no connection with England be allowed to debate and influence the way the English, especially those in the Shires, live their lives?
The English are an easy-going, tolerant people and because of this they are looked on as a weak race, easy to take advantage of. It is time the English woke up and fought back before there is no England, free or otherwise. Give us our own English Parliament, so we can decide for ourselves.
I do not hunt, shoot or fish.
