NEXT Saturday (March 5) will be a special one for the volunteers of Tidy Tavi.
An organisation called ‘Clean for the Queen’ has declared a campaign over the weekend to clear up Britain in time for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June 2016.
Groups nationwide will set forth to pick up litter in their neighbourhood in support of this very worthy cause. Other events will take place in Harrowbarrow and Peter Tavy. Further details can be found at www.cleanforthequeen. co.uk
Tidy Tavi organisers are hoping for an extra-large turnout, so if you would like to join in and make a real difference please meet at the Meadowlands Leisure Centre at 10am on Saturday.
All you will need will be provided. Just wear sensible footwear and bring a stout pair of gloves. Many like-minded members of the community will be there to make you most welcome.
In another venture, Tidy Tavi organisers will be awarding special certificates of appreciation to businesses, individuals and community groups who have made significant contributions in the constant campaign to keep Tavistock tidy.
It is known for instance, that the proprietors of some local businesses make a daily effort to clean around their premises. Other businesses support Tidy Tavi’s efforts in various other essential ways.
The recipients of these awards will be notified during the months to come, but if you would like to make a nomination please send details to [email protected] or jeffreymoody@tiscali. co.uk
