LAST Saturday’s Tidy Tavi foray was deemed a great success, evident by the number of yellow-clad figures to be seen around Tavistock picking up litter during the morning.

A total of 34 volunteers turned out in the sunshine, fortuitously before the showers struck during the afternoon. Many areas of the town were visited and most found to be relatively clean and tidy. Nevertheless, many bags of rubbish were collected, especially away from the town centre, along the A386 and in residential areas. Some fitness-minded volunteers also chalked up impressive scores on their pedometers!

Once again, the Meadowlands Leisure Centre, the Wharf Café and Bob’s East End Café kindly treated volunteers to complimentary tea and coffee – a generous and welcome gesture for gallant individuals who were prepared to spare two hours of their valuable Saturday morning to help in the community.

Anyone who would like to join in next month’s expedition can meet at Meadowlands Leisure Centre on Saturday, July 1 at 10am.

Once again, an organiser will be available there until 10.30am to greet families with young children.
