TIDY Tavi became Tidy Tavy for a short while recently.
Volunteers who read about the appalling act of vandalism on the river bank between Mary Tavy and Peter Tavy in the August 6 edition of the Times decided to do something about it.
A small team took scrubbing brushes and paint remover out to the spot and did their best to clean off the blue graffiti sprayed on rocks by the river. This was largely successful and it is hoped that no noticeable trace of the dreadful mess is now easily visible. A number of bottles, cans and other items of rubbish were also removed.
Tidy Tavi’s next litter picking venture in Tavistock will begin outside the Meadowlands Leisure centre at 10 am on Saturday, September 5. As usual, all volunteers will be very welcome.
