'IT was a huge success' — that was the overall reaction from organisers of the Mary Tavy Village Spring Fayre, which was held on Bank Holiday Monday (May 26). More than £2,000 was raised for Mary Tavy groups and projects, including the Coronation Hall, playgroup, Mary Tavy village playground, and many more. The fayre, which will now be a regular event each year on the last May Bank Holiday, proved to be a huge hit with local residents and visitors alike. Cheryl Downham, one of the organisers of the event, said that fun was had by all during the day, and she said paid tribute to all who had contributed. She said: 'We want to thank everybody who helped, volunteered or came along. 'Next year we are hoping for it to be bigger and better than ever and we hope even more people come along. 'The dog show was a huge success and so was the car boot sale. The grand prize draw was popular and we want to thank all businesses who donated.' The £100 grand prize draw was won by Nick Senior.
