Delabole 2

CALSTOCK gained their second win of the season and more importantly another three points to take home.

Calstock got off to a great start when Shane Richards scored a well struck half volley within minutes of the start.

Calstock continued to play well going forward as a team and creating many chances.

Throughout the game Lee Hould and Jon Tilbury put in solid performances in the middle of the park, making crucial tackles and passing the ball well.

Calstock strikers Ross Lavers and Shane Richards worked the Delabole defence endlessly. Laver came close to scoring his first but was denied by the Delabole keeper who pulled off an important save. Barry Hemmett scored Calstock's second, however it was disallowed for a foul on the keeper.

Calstock came out of the changing rooms for the second half confidently keeping possession and putting the Delabole defence under pressure. Craig Keegan and Gareth Layer linked up well down the left side, Layer was unlucky not to get his first goal of the season from a powerful driving shot that was tipped over the cross bar by the keeper.

Against the run of play Delabole scored two goals in quick succession, the first through a penalty to equalise and the second from a corner which was headed into the back of the Calstock net to take the lead. Despite this Calstock continued to push forward. Shane continued to make essential runs through the defence. Shane crossed the ball with his weaker foot into the box for Lavers to head home for the equaliser.

Delabole began to put pressure on Calstock towards the end of the game creating an exciting and intense finish. Calstock gained a crucial free kick when a Delabole player brought down Mark Blanks just outside the eighteen yard box. Lavers stepped up to take the free kick in the dying minutes. A great free kick by Lavers which curled around the wall and into the back of the net to give Calstock the winner.
