A TEAM of six Devon young farmers and four volunteers from the Farming Community Network donated £9,553.26 to charity last week following the completion of the National Three Peaks Challenge.
The team consisted of Jamie Packham and Alice Giles from Bow YFC, Emma and Georgina Davie from Newton St Cyres YFC, Devon YFC county organiser Nick Creasy and past county chairman Chris Berry, alongside Jo Jones, Colin Smallacombe, Sarah Pateman and Sara Holland from the Farming Community Network (FCN).
They completed the challenge to climb over 10,000 ft in just under 24 hours, presented the cheques to Jo Jones on behalf of the Farming Community Network and Caroline Trude, Chairman of the Devon Young Farmers Federation.
Georgina Davie, member from Newton St Cyres YFC said: ‘The three peaks challenge was a great experience and it was brilliant to raise lots of money for two worthwhile charities.
‘Extended thanks to everyone who donated to help us raise this amazing amount of money, and to the team who made it such an enjoyable and memorable trip’.
The team raised the money from a quiz held prior to the challenge, from generous donations and sponsorship from local companies including Mole Avon, NFU Crediton, Ag Bag, Daw Refrigeration, EBVC, James Pryce Tractors, Crediton Dairy, Cornish Mutual, Smallridge Brothers, North Park Vets, Haines Watts, Davisons, Cardens Estate Agents and Devon Sales & Lettings.
The group worked together to reach the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales — approximately 27 miles, all within 24 hours.
Members from the Devon Federation of Young Farmers Club are continuing to fundraise for their new headquarters, which is located in Cheriton Bishop, just off the A30.
