OKEHAMPTON and District Community Transport Group has welcomed three new drivers to its team of volunteers.
The group, which provides a transportation service for the elderly and rurally isolated residents, has recently said goodbye to volunteer driver Gerald Lomax.
Gary, from Northlew, is moving to Suffolk and was recently thanked by the group for his work.
After his departure, the group has introduced new Northlew driver Cheryl Everitt.
The team also recently recruited Douglas Young from Okehampton and welcomed back Michael Bendix, who will once again get behind the wheel to assist local residents needing transport services to hospital appointments.
A spokesperson for Okehampton District Community and Transport Group said: ‘We are always looking for volunteer drivers and at the moment would particularly like to find someone from the Chagford and North Tawton areas. Please ring us for more information.’
The group has also had plenty of reason to celebrate after raising £476.50 at its recent coffee morning.
Sue Wonnacott, group co-ordinator, said: ‘Thank you to everyone who supported our event, we had a very busy morning.
‘It was lovely to see so many clients and supporters.’
