DON'T miss a special folk-rock gig at the Wharf on Saturday June 3. Northampton band Invocal join local bands Hannah and the Madding Crowd and ECT for a benefit gig to raise awareness and funds for the Tavistock and District Conservation Project.
Hannah and the Madding Crowd use harmony vocals and acoustic instruments to create their style of Indie-folk and have played with artists including Al Stewart and Kathryn Tickell.
ECT — Even Cats Talk — are a Tavistock band formed in 1997 out of the Music Box Project. They are currently working on their first CD and are rapidly making a name for themselves with their own brand of original folk and rock music.
Invocal is a multi-harmony acoustic band led by Rosie Swayne, a former Tavistock College student, who played at the opening of the Wharf in 1995.
For nearly 10 years Tavistock and District Conservation Project has been working throughout West Devon and East Cornwall with Volunteers of all ages and abilities.
A wide range of practical conservation work has included repairing dry stone walls on Dartmoor, waymarking new footpaths and creating environmental areas at local primary schools.
Volunteers work as a team and gain useful experience and training in rural skills as well as the satisfaction of improving the environment for all.
So come along, enjoy three bands in one night and bop for a cause.
