TAVISTOCK Thistles U14s are seeking the next Steven Gerrard! Despite superb backroom staff, with three FA qualified coaches and enthusiastic support from the parents, the U14s are still lacking the player numbers needed to make this a successful team.
The team is managed by Sue Jarman and coached by Antonio Ambrosano — a former semi-professional from Italy who has a wealth of experience to pass on; Antonio is ably assisted by John Mulley (FA level one coach) and Martin Harris (coaching development officer).
Tavistock Thistles is a Charter Standard club and affiliated to Tavistock AFC. The club play all there games locally and next season will be moving back to the newly refurbished Crowndale pitches which now boast state of the art changing rooms and shower facilities.
Development coach, Martin Harris said: 'It is a crying shame for the lads who this season, due to injury and illness, endured having to play with nine players against the top team in the league. The boys do there best, but against teams with 11 outfield players, and three subs to use, it is always going to be an up hill struggle to get anything from these games.'
'We have the coaches who are able to deliver high quality coaching to the squad, but we need the numbers on a regular basis to achieve the improvements needed from the players and the team.
'We desperately need more players to bolster the squad and would welcome any players from the Tavistock and outlying areas including Plymouth who want to come and train on Wednesday nights at the all weather pitch at Tavistock College from 7pm to 8pm.'
