Royal Oak League U15s
Elburton Villa . . . . . . . . .4
Tavistock Thistles . . . . . .4
THISTLES continued their recent good form by coming back from a 4-2 deficit with just a little over 10 minutes left in the game to win a very good point.
Good defending by Jon Walker and Joseph Busuttil kept the lively Elburton strikers at bay until mid-way through the first half when a harmless looking shot somehow found its way into the Thistles' net.
The second half saw Thistles with the elements at their backs taking the game to Elburton with a series of useful attacks but good defending by the home team denied them any clear cut opportunities.
Somewhat against the run of play Elburton increased their lead but good work in mid-field by Paul Gibbings, James Meckiff, Matt Stephens and Andrew Wallace saw Thistles gradually get a grip on the game.
A good through ball saw Darren Phillips up-ended as he burst into the penalty area and Andrew Wallace scored from the spot to bring his team back into the match.
Two evenly matched teams were producing plenty of attacking football, but again it was Elburton who took advantage of a slip to lead 3 - 1.
Thistles continued to battle and pulled another goal back, scored in typical fashion by Darren Phillips.
With little over 10 minutes remaining, Elburton looked to have won the points by scoring to lead 4-2.
Darren Phillips and Adam Stephens were causing problems for the home defence and it was no surprise when Adam Stephens scored to make it 4-3.
Thistles' refusal to accept defeat saw them awarded a penalty, again Andrew Wallace kept his nerve to smash home the equaliser and a deserved share of the spoils.
