WITH reference to the letter last week from Chris Beglin headlined, 'Joe Public, ever the stoic', I would like to inform your readers that I have raised this problem many times at the meetings of the Devon Association of Parish Councils where I am the representative of Okehampton Town Council.
Representations are being made to other committees about the chaos and the inconvenience to the public.
I have also spoken to Devon County Council councillors. They tell me that 86 companies are involved and they can't do anything about it. These private companies deem the work as essential.
The roadworks, cable works, water works and the awful lack of co-ordination is very much a countywide and even a nationwide problem and is proving difficult to deal with.
I would welcome a spokesperson of these companies and Mr Parnell of the Highways Authority to tell us what they are going to do to attend to these complaints and how they intend dealing with the lack of co-ordination.
