SIGN up for Marie Curie Cancer Care's 13-mile Dartmoor Challenge and you could win £500 worth of holiday vouchers, courtesy of holidaycottages.co.uk

The event takes place on Sunday, October 13, and will take walkers over 13 miles of rugged moorland, ancient woodland and over some of Dartmoor's most iconic tors.

Money raised from the event will help provide more hours of Marie Curie nursing care to terminally ill patients, in the comfort of their own home. Last year's 13-mile trek saw 200 walkers raise more than £20,000 for the nursing service in Devon

Sue Cousins, a member of the Newton Abbot fundraising group has taken part in the walk herself and will be there this year as part of the events team: 'When my husband Joe was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2008 he desperately didn't want to go into a hospice, so we had Marie Curies nurses here at home.

'It was obviously an emotional time and I wouldn't have been able to go through it without the care and support of those nurses.

'I now work with the events team on the challenge and I'll be there this year to make sure all the walkers are looked after and everyone enjoys the trek.'

All those brave enough to take on this challenging hike will receive a trekking t-shirt to wear on the day and can look forward to a medal and certificate as they cross the finish line, along with a well deserved cream tea at the Wayside Café in Widecombe in the Moor.

Dog walkers and teams of colleagues, friends and families are urged to sign up.
